Kenya Airways: Mombasa to Nairobi

The first thing I noticed walking up to the B738 aeroplane was its registration 5Y-KYB, it is the younger sister of 5Y-KYA that went down in west africa in 2007. Not to scare you, air travel is still the safest mode of transport.

This flight started on an insane note, when we were forced to run to the plane in the rain because the jetway was inoperable. KQ served light refreshments on this short flight, everyone got their beef pitta pockets just after take off. The drinks service was slow, I got my drink when halfway thorough descent into Nairobi. I was sitting on the very last row of the plane on this short 40 minute flight. Descent into Nairobi was very bumpy, turbulence does not bother me, but it took lots of skill on my part not to drink my beer without spilling a precious drop. I did not spill a drop… I must be eligible for some award of sorts, maybe captain J who was in the flight deck can give me a tour of the flight deck next time. The Boeing 737-800 has a stunning all-glass cockpit. Yep, apart from being a food geek, I am also an aviation enthusiast.

The curry beef pitta pocket was mmmm ok, the beef was a bit tough though. Anyway I ate it all, after landing in Nairobi, the crazy mombasa road traffic made me just want to board another flight to mombasa raha!!!!!
